The Memphis Bar B Que In Downtown

Updated: Aug 23, 2020

Around 12:45 Am on a Wednesday night, my best-friend and I was starving after a long day walking at the Memphis Downtown, and so we decided to go out and eat anywhere near, so we decided to go to Kooky Canuck where everything is huge, but sadly the kitchen closed and only the bar was open. So we decided to head for Huey's but they were also closed, but then a kind security guard from Huey's showed us there's a place that is open and it's a Bar B Que joint, straight ahead down the rode, few miles from where we are.

The guard said he loved that place and we should try it, and so we thanked the guard for the friendly suggestion and started our way to walk to the place called Blue City Cafe, as soon we walked in we were greeted by the aroma of sweet, mouth watering, hickory smoke that had splashed right in front of our face, leaving our tummies growling just for the taste of what they have to serve, as we stood there a kind lady came and walked us to our table, giving us a menu.

Scanning through the menu everything sounded so delicious, from southern style shrimp, fish, and chicken to the Legendary BBQ ribs, instantly my eyes goes straight to the BBQ rib section of the menu.

So we didn't waste any time and started ordering. My Best friend ordered the Southern Fried Chicken Tenders that has ripped, stripped, and hand battered served with steak fries and your choice of honey mustard or BBQ sauce with a side of Texas toasted bread. I on the other hand ordered the Legendary BBQ ribs half racks, tender, juicy pork ribs rubbed with their secret seasoning, hickory smoked & basted with their maple BBQ sauce, the ribs are slow-cooked which they served with baked beans, steak fries, coleslaw and Texas toast bread.

Southern Fried Chicken Tenders

The Review: My best friend liked it, but I on the other hand I tried one of the chicken tenders, The flavor wasn't much to me at all, the chicken was a bit dry. The only thing that helped was the honey mustard.

The Legendary Half Rack BBQ

The Review: The BBQ Ribs were indeed tender, and it slid right off the bones, in my opinion and most important for me is the flavor, to me the flavor tasted like charcoal, a little burnt, and dry. The coleslaw was watery and not much of a flavor to it that I needed along side with my ribs. The steak fries is okay, a little taste of burnt due to overused grease. The baked bean, was good I have no problem with it. Overall I just suck it up and enjoyed it because I am with great company and a good time with my best friend.

Hopefully we can go back and try it again and see if they made changes!
